For FW16 I’ve revisited my formative years in the Soviet Union and in the particular the time of the economic dissolution of 1990. In this year of change, there was a great shortage of clothes and raw materials, as commercial goods were rare. I remember my father traveling to Poland to exchange old watches for new trousers. But in a child’s eye, this time was also incredibly energizing as the scarcity encouraged creativity and challenged aesthetic conventions of gender, class and age
